About us

We are a team of capable and committed founders who are LGBTQ+ and know the stress of living a life controlled by money.

Jason Banks

Co-Founder & CEO

Jason, from the U.S., was motivated to start eras.fyi by his own financial literacy journey and his interest in using his technical and business skills to help society.

When Jason came out in his teens, his family disowned him. So, like many LGBTQ+ people, he had to figure out personal finance on his own.Jason has ten years of experience developing software and leading software teams and four years of experience practicing finance and securities law in New York, Paris, and London.

Sneha Samanta

Co-Founder & CMO

Sneha, from Australia, was motivated to join eras because she wants to use her marketing skills to increase financial inclusion for underserved people.

As a queer person from an immigrant background, Sneha has had to contend with financial precarity. Her experiences drive her passion to create a product that empowers the underserved.Sneha has over eight years of experience building communication strategies and designing customer outreach in European and international markets.

The queer dimensions of personal finance

LGBTQ+ people face different financial challenges:

  • Living openly and reaching retirement age was historically less possible

  • They face illness, threats of violence, and mental health struggles

  • They pay higher living costs to ensure their safety

  • They face discrimination in the labor force

  • ... and the list goes on

As queer founders, we know what it is like to face barriers that are not addressed by conventional, inflexible personal finance tools. We are building a tool for everyone who needs a different, compassionate approach.
